The Farm Country Family

Arnold Tobler Owner

Arnold Tobler

Co-owner

At the age of 40 I finally figured out what I wanted to do when I grew up…open a craft brewery! I’ve always been a bit of a late bloomer. Experience cleaning out chicken coops and mucking out sheep stalls on a Langley farm as a child sure comes in handy when you’re cleaning out the mash tun! Star Wars nerd, average hockey player, jack of all trades, but most importantly, a proud father of two awesome girls!

What do you do at the brewery?

My official title is Chief Operating Officer when I’m signing documents and on my business card it says Co-founder. Those are too official sounding for my liking. I’m kinda like a Swiss army knife, I perform a multitude of tasks. No job is too big or too small. It all needs to get done!

If you weren't doing this what would you be doing?

Golfing and drinking beer hopefully!

What are you most challenged at?

Grammar and growing a beard. It’s a tie really.

What are your biggest pet peeves?

Thieves that break into breweries under construction and steal tools! Oh, and grammar… can I use that again?

Where is the most memorable or unusual place you've drank beer?

Lake Geneva in Switzerland on a boat cruise on a beautiful summer day. Not very unusual but it sure was beautiful!

Travis Keyworth

Co-owner

As a Langley boy born and raised with strong family ties to the area, I am beyond excited to be a part of bringing a new craft brewery to this community. A husband and also a proud father of two, a man of few words and believe it or not a big softie at heart. Unless I have a pair of hockey skates strapped on and a stick in my hands that is, then you better watch out!

What do you do at the brewery?

An accountant by trade, together with my amazing wife, we take care of all things financial and numbers related. But as a passionate owner and craft beer enthusiast I plan to be involved in all aspects of the brewery operations including taking regular shifts behind the bar and interacting with our wonderful customers.

If you weren't doing this what would you be doing?

Ideally spending all my time playing with my two beautiful baby girls.

What are you most challenged at?

Anything mechanical. I‘m great at demolishing stuff but please don’t ask me to build anything.

What are your biggest pet peeves?

Men who can’t grow beards.  Seriously though, bylaws…

Where is the most memorable or unusual place you've drank beer?

Sitting in a bathtub full of beer and hop pellets at a small craft brewery / 100 year-old blown glass factory in Harrachov in the Czech Republic. A definite bucket list item if you are ever travelling through Europe!

Jack Brewer

Jack Bensley

Head Brewer

It didn’t take Jack quite as long as Arnold to figure out that beer was his one true love (aside from his lovely wife and kids, of course). Farm Country Brewing is his 3rd brewery and second brewery build. By far the best bowler on the farm country team, Jack is constantly working on his goal of falling off his bike less frequently.

What do you do at the brewery?

If Arnold is a Jack of all Trades, what does that make Jack? I think my business card should read CCO (chief cleaning officer) instead of Head Brewer. My job mostly consists of brewing, tasting, kegging, tasting, canning, tasting, cleaning, and sometimes tasting beer. Don’t be jealous, it’s less glamorous than it sounds…

If you weren't doing this what would you be doing?

Either falling off my bike somewhere or traveling the world in search of tasty beer and food.

What are you most challenged at?

Admitting that I’m challenged at anything. I’m sure it’s a part of being as stubborn as a mule.

What are your biggest pet peeves?

Stale dated beer on liquor store shelves. Oxidized beer also makes me crazy.

Where is the most memorable or unusual place you've drank beer?

Drinking open fermented, unfiltered Pilsner Urquell in the cellars under the brewery in Pilsen. I would happily drink that beer every day for the rest of my life.
