When Farm Country Brewing first asked what would happen if, just for one day, every single tap in their Langley taproom poured a beer made by a woman, nobody quite knew the answer. Six years later, that quiet question has become one of BC’s most beloved annual craft beer events: the International Women’s Day Tap Takeover that sells out every March 8th without fail.

This year’s sixth edition, held Sunday, March 8, 2026, was the biggest, boldest, and most emotional yet. Nine beers, one cider, ten Langley breweries, and a sold-out room full of people who came to drink, vote, and celebrate the women and non-binary brewers quietly building something extraordinary in the Fraser Valley.

Here’s how it went.

What Is the International Women’s Day Tap Takeover?

For those new to this corner of BC’s craft beer world, the International Women’s Day Tap Takeover is a one-day event held annually on March 8th at Farm Country Brewing in Langley City. Every beer on tap, all nine plus one cider, is brewed exclusively by women and non-binary brewers from Langley’s local craft beer community.

But it’s not a passive tasting. It’s a competition. Guests work their way through every pour on the flight, cast their ballot, and vote to crown the winner of the Pink Boots Trophy, one of the most coveted honours in Langley brewing. Past winners have gone on to brew some of the most talked-about limited releases in the region.

It is, in short, a celebration of talent that also happens to be a seriously fun afternoon of exceptional local beer.

The Star of the Show: Femininom Saison by Farm Country Brewing × The Barley Merchant

This year, Farm Country Brewing and Langley’s celebrated craft beer taphouse The Barley Merchant joined forces to create a collaboration beer brewed exclusively for the Tap Takeover.

Femininom Saison at 5.5% ABV and IBU 20 is a hibiscus saison that arrives with what the label calls “big pop-anthem energy.” That description is earned. The beer pours a warm, hazy pink, with a nose full of hibiscus blossom . On the palate it’s bold and floral, with a gentle tartness and a spicy, dry finish that keeps you coming back.

The label sums it up perfectly: playful, powerful, and proudly extra.

It was brewed for the International Women’s Day Tap Takeover 2026 and for anyone, as the label reads, “living loud, loving boldly, and having their main-character moment.”

Produced at Farm Country Brewing Inc., 20555 56 Ave, Langley, BC.

When the votes were counted, it was the clear winner. Femininom Saison took home the 2026 Pink Boots Trophy, earning its place in the celebrated history of Tap Takeover champions. If you’re searching for craft beers brewed by women for Women’s Day celebrations or wondering where to buy special edition Women’s Day brews near Langley, this is the one that’ll have people talking until 2027.

🍺 Trading Post Brewing

A Langley institution with deep roots in the Fraser Valley, Trading Post brings a bold and creative lineup to the table every year. Their women brewers are known for pushing boundaries while respecting tradition.

🍺 Five Roads Brewing

Born and brewed in Langley, Five Roads has quickly become a community favourite. Their entry into the tap takeover is always one of the most anticipated pours of the night.

🍺 Smugglers Trail Caskworks

Specializing in cask-conditioned ales, Smugglers Trail brings a rare and beautiful craft to the event. Their contribution always sparks conversation and second pours.

🍺 Brookswood Brewing

A neighbourhood brewery with a loyal following, Brookswood represents the grassroots spirit that makes Langley’s beer scene so special. Their women brewers bring warmth and creativity to every batch.

🍺 Locality Brewing

Known for their community-first approach and exceptional quality, Locality Brewing has become a staple of the Langley craft scene. Their tap takeover entries are consistently crowd favourites.

🍺 Dead Frog Brewery

One of BC’s most beloved craft brewers, Dead Frog brings serious brewing chops to the event. Their women-brewed entries are always technically impressive and deeply flavourful.

🍺 The Barley Merchant

The Barley Merchant isn’t a brewery — they’re one of Langley’s most celebrated craft beer taphouses, dedicated to championing the best of BC’s local brewing scene. But for this event, they go one step further: collaborating directly with Farm Country Brewing to create a special collaboration beer that’s exclusively brewed for the tap takeover. It’s a partnership that perfectly captures the spirit of this event — community over competition.

🍺 Fraser Valley Cider Co.

The only cidery in the lineup, Fraser Valley Cider Co. brings a refreshing contrast to the craft beer flights — and always earns a devoted following among guests who discover cider for the first time.

🍺 KPU Brew Lab

Perhaps the most exciting entry in the lineup: Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s student-run Brew Lab sends a specially crafted beer to the tap takeover every year. Brewed by the next generation of women in BC’s craft beer industry, their entry carries a special meaning — these are students learning their craft and already making an impact. Watch this space.

Why This Event Matters Beyond the Beer

Craft brewing is still a male-dominated industry. Walk into most North American brewhouses and the gender imbalance is hard to miss. The Tap Takeover exists, in part, to make that imbalance visible and to do something about it.

Farm Country Brewing has donated proceeds from the event to both the Pink Boots Society Canada, which provides education and scholarships to women and non-binary people in the fermented beverage industry, and the Ishtar Women’s Resource Society, a local organization supporting women in the Fraser Valley.

For the young women who walk into Farm Country on March 8th and see nine taps, every single one poured by someone who looks like them, something shifts. Some of them will go on to become brewers themselves. That’s not a small thing.

A Tradition That Earns Its Reputation

Year one was a handful of local brewers, a modest crowd, and a quiet experiment. Year six was a sold-out tasting room, ten outstanding breweries, a hibiscus saison that people are still talking about, and a Pink Boots Trophy that means something real to whoever takes it home.

The International Women’s Day Tap Takeover has become one of Langley’s most anticipated annual events, not because it markets itself aggressively, but because the beer is genuinely excellent and the room fills up with people who feel something.

That’s what a great beer event looks like. That’s what Langley does best.
